For all our Nook and iPad friends … we are pleased to announce that Eventide is now also available on Barnes & Nobel in Nookbook epub format.

This means that the book is now available as an ebook both at Barnes & Nobel and at Amazon.com in both formats. We hope that you’ll take time and visit both sites … leave a review of the book … and pick up your own ebook copy if you wish for $9.95 US.

We’re doing our best to get this story to you in as beautiful a form as possible. Let us know if you have any problems with either rendition of Eventide.

Today is a day we have been looking forward to for such a very long time! I was sitting at my desk this morning anxious to hear the doorbell ring as though it were Christmas morning once again.

Soon there was a knock at the door and the sound barely died before I opened it and found a wonderful box on my step.

The two advanced proofs of Eventide had arrived. I took a grateful moment and then nervously opened the box. Laura was serving at our church this morning so I was the first to see them.

And here they are, as you can see … the brilliant crimson book mark ribbons were worth every bit of the extra expense. The type is comfortable and the book is a delight to hold. Laura’s illuminations turned out beautifully and even the embossing on the spine looks fabulous. The feel of the paper — a big issue for us in designing the book — is everything we had hoped for and more.

It is, in every way, the treasure that we had hoped to bring to you.

We will be making the final arrangements this afternoon for the shipping of the books to us here — and begin signing, numbering and sending the books out to you as soon as they arrive. We are currently in the process of getting all the mailing addresses straightened out and assigning book numbers to each of them ahead of time. We’ve cleared the needful space in our garage (a.k.a. our publishing warehouse) and have set up our folding banquet table (a.k.a. assembly line and shipping department) which also handles our Santa’s Sleigh Ride games.

Subscriptions for this book are closed but we have only a hundred or so additional copies which we are offering as part of our Dragon’s Bard Holiday gift sets … a treasure that is rare indeed!

Laura and I are proud to debut for you the final book cover for Eventide. We’ve been working on the layouts for the book both in terms of the interior layout and the dust jacket for the cover. After considering a number of options we decided we liked the classic look and feel of an old, familiar book. It’s a simple layout — like Eventide itself, I suppose — which does not scream ‘sales copy’.

The book will be as elegant a production as the cover implies. The paper we are using is acid-free so that it will last an an heirloom. The interior features illustrations of each section created by Laura — which we hope to show you samples of soon. The hardback cover will be in a matching green with gold foil title embossed on the spine. Each book will have a bookmark ribbon as well … an expense which Laura and I both feel is justified considering the art of this book — and the art we intend to continue in each of the subsequent books in this series.

Note that this back cover is almost entirely devoid of text. Again, we just don’t feel the need to shout at you about what’s inside the book — especially since you’ve already bought it! We prefer to give you a book that looks good in your hands, on your table or on your shelf. Better still, a book that feels good in your hands to read and live the stories again.
